Scenario: You want to know how many days there are between 1 January 2026 and 31 January 2026.
- In calendar day mode (default, elapsed): the result is 30 days (31 Jan minus 1 Jan). Tick Include both start and end dates to get 31 days.
- In weekday mode (default, elapsed): counts Mondays to Fridays from 2 Jan through 31 Jan — 21 weekdays. With inclusive mode ticked, 1 January (a Thursday) is also counted for 22 weekdays.
- If you also need to exclude UK bank holidays (e.g. 1 January is a bank holiday), use the Working Days Calculator instead — it gives 20 working days for the same range in England & Wales.

Calendar Days
Every day of the week counts — Monday through Sunday. The simplest way to measure elapsed time. Use this for holiday countdowns, deadlines that apply seven days a week, or any general date arithmetic.
Weekdays (Mon–Fri)
Only Monday to Friday are counted; Saturdays and Sundays are skipped. Useful when you need to plan around working weeks but do not need to worry about specific bank holidays.
Working Days (UK)
Weekdays minus UK bank holidays (Christmas, Easter, etc.). The correct measure for business contracts, employment rights, and official UK deadlines. Use the Working Days Calculator for this.

How do I calculate days between two dates?
Enter a start date and an end date in the "Days Between Dates" section, then choose whether to count calendar days (every day) or weekdays only (Monday to Friday). The calculator instantly shows the number of days in between.
Does this count the start date and end date?
By default, the calculator shows the number of elapsed days — that is, the end date minus the start date. For example, 1 January 2026 to 31 January 2026 gives 30 elapsed days. If you tick the "Include both start and end dates" checkbox, both endpoints are counted and the same range gives 31 days.
What is the difference between weekdays and working days?
Weekdays are Monday to Friday — any day that is not a Saturday or Sunday. Working days are weekdays minus UK bank holidays (such as Christmas Day or Easter). This calculator counts weekdays only. For bank-holiday-aware working-day calculations use the dedicated Working Days Calculator.
Are UK bank holidays included in this date calculator?
No. This is a general date calculator and does not exclude UK bank holidays. Weekday mode counts Monday to Friday only; it still includes bank holidays that fall on a weekday. For a bank-holiday-aware count use the Working Days Calculator.
